AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) plays as an attacking player. She is also captain of the San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division of women's professional soccer. From 2018 to 2020, she served as co-captain for the American women's national soccer team with Megan Rapinoe. In the months following her graduation early from the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was selected as the top pick during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional at the club and was instrumental in helping the team win its league championship. Morgan at the time, who was 22 years young, was the youngest national player at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011, where she was second. She scored the match-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final match during the 2012 London Olympics. The 2012 season ended with 21 goals and 28 assists and Mia Hamm was the only American woman who scored both 20 and 20 goals. This made her the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to reach 20 goals in one season. The following year, she was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year , and was also a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan contributed to helping the United States win the title at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups. She was selected for the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
